Students and Parents

Please read the information below concerning grading for this class. I consider myself an easy grader compared to many. I give a base set of what needs to be done to get full credit, and then students are able to move further after the base work is done.

100% of points: on-time

75% of points: late

50% of points: REALLY late

0% of points: missing

Students will not move to the next assignment with a 0% on any previous assignment. Assignments build on previous knowledge, so if previous work is not complete, it will be very hard to do the next step. Students need to stay up to date, or they will fall behind, and it will be hard to catch up. Whenever possible, students will post their work in the forum. This way, students are not only learning to use the computer at a higher level, but I am also able to grade the work from anywhere, anytime, and I can give direct feedback. Please click on links for information for each grade (when available). If your parents want to check your grades on-line, they will log-on to Parent Connection. If your parents do not have an account yet, they will need to fill out the Access Request Form and bring it into our school with ID that verifies they are the parent or guardian. I already sent home hard copies of this form, but if it got lost, or did not make it home, the information is now easily accessible. Also, it would be helpful for students to see their grades along with the parents. This way the students can be responsible for themselves, instead of a teacher or parent having to tell a student who is behind to get caught up. As your child is probably spending a lot of time on-line, it would be a good idea to read the FBI's A Parent's Guide to Internet Safety. Another important document to read is the The Offical School Administrator's Guide to understanding MySpace and resolving Social Network Issues.

If a student is not doing well, s/he will receive a Note to Home (English) or Note to Home (Spanish) that will need to be signed by a parent or guardian and returned the next day. The student will get further consequences if it is not brought back.
